Learning Curves

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

I've decided to start charting my Art journey by blog writing! What a strange situation - one that I never expected to be in. Life's curve balls certainly keep things interesting.

A year ago, I was busy enjoying drawing and painting pictures without too much thought about where I might go with my work. The pandemic put paid to a lot of my plans for part time supply teaching, along with a lot of other plans for 2020. One good thing for me personally has been the additional time I've had to practise my art. Last year was my most productive year ever and it's shown me that you're never to old to learn new things, meet new people and form new connections.

I've started to realise that the part of me that loves the human story and loves to make people happy is still alive and kicking. My art fulfils that need. I'm finding it quite strange to think that a year ago, the number of people in the world who owned a piece of my work was less than a dozen and now it's a much, much bigger number! It makes me really happy and satisfied to remember the reactions I've seen people have when they first see the picture they've commissioned from me and to know that my work will be treasured and loved for a long time to come.

I've begun 2021 with a bang by producing my three best ever paintings. I've also started to get serious about the marketing and business side of what I do, with advice and guidance from West Midlands artists, organisers and training programmes. There's so much more to being an artist than making art.

So keep a look out on my Facebook and Instagram pages. I'm busy cooking up plans to keep doing what I do best and producing quality, meaningful art for anyone who wants it!
